Terms and Conditions

Version 1.0 | Last updated: January 2026

Welcome to the Oracle of Place website. By accessing or using this site, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use this website.

About This Website

This site is managed by Rebecca Burns as part of the Oracle of Place, a PhD research project at the University of Worcester. The site shares information, project updates, and opportunities to participate in research exploring how people's stories about local places are shared, remembered, and kept alive within communities in Kington, Herefordshire.

Research Participation

This website includes forms through which you can contribute to the research by sharing a written story or expressing an interest in an oral history interview. Participation is entirely voluntary and open to adults aged 18 or over with a personal connection to Kington.

Before taking part, please read the Participant Information Sheet, which explains what taking part involves, how your contribution will be used, and your rights. All participation is governed by the informed consent process described in that document.

By submitting a story or expression of interest through this website, you grant permission for your contribution to be used for research purposes only, as described in the Participant Information Sheet. Any use of your contribution in public-facing outputs, creative materials such as the oracle cards, community exhibitions, or oral history archives will only take place with your separate, explicit consent obtained through a follow-up conversation. Your preferences regarding attribution and anonymity will always be respected.

You may request the withdrawal or amendment of your contribution at any time before it is prepared for public use or archiving, by contacting Rebecca Burns directly.

For full details of how your personal data is handled, please read our Privacy Policy.
