Share Your Story
Do you have a memory, experience, or piece of knowledge about a place in or around Kington that matters to you?
This is your invitation to share it.
Written story submissions are at the heart of this research.
Every story helps build a deeper understanding of how place-based knowledge lives in a community, and may help shape the oracle cards created as part of this project.
Participation is entirely voluntary. You must be aged 18 or over to take part.

What kind of story can I share?
There are no rules about what to share or how to write it. Your story might be about:
-
A street, route, or path you know well
-
A shop, landmark, or building that holds meaning for you
-
A landscape, view, or open space you return to
-
A memory connected to a particular spot
-
Something you have always noticed but never said out loud
-
A place that has changed, disappeared, or that you miss
Contributions can be as short or as detailed as you like.
A single sentence is as welcome as several paragraphs.
You do not need to be a writer. Your words, in whatever form they come, are what matters.
Before you submit, please choose how you would like to take part
There are two ways to submit a story, and it is important to understand the difference before you proceed.
1. Submit with your contact details (recommended)
If you leave your name and email address, your submission will be treated as an expression of interest. This means:
-
Nothing will be published, shared publicly, or archived without a follow-up conversation with you first
-
I will be in touch to discuss how your story might be used and to agree on any attribution
-
You can revise or withdraw your story at any point before it is used
-
You will be asked separately whether you consent to your story being used in public outputs such as the oracle cards or a community exhibition
-
Leaving your details does not commit you to anything
2. Submit anonymously
If you prefer not to be contacted, you can submit your story without leaving any personal details. Please be aware that if you choose this option:
-
Your story will be used for research purposes only
-
It will not be used in any public outputs such as the oracle cards or exhibitions
-
It will not be archived as part of an oral history heritage collection
-
It cannot be attributed to you in any way
Important information before you submit
This project involves the collection of personal stories as research data.
Before submitting, please take a moment to read the Participant Information Sheet, which explains exactly what taking part involves, how your story will be used, how your data is stored and protected, and your rights.
What Happens Next?
If you submitted with your contact details:
I will be in touch within a few days to thank you for your contribution and to have a conversation about how your story might be used. Nothing will happen with your story until we have spoken and you have given your explicit agreement. You are free to change your mind, revise what you have shared, or withdraw your story entirely at any point before it is used.
If you submitted anonymously:
Your story will be stored securely and used as research material only, in line with the Participant Information Sheet. It will not appear in any public outputs and will not be attributed to you.
If you have any questions before submitting, you are welcome to get in touch directly:
